How to Record Audio with no Sound Card (from Microphone)
If your computer has been manufactured with a sound card that is unable to record audio properly there is an alternative route that will allow you to record audio.
The first thing you will need to do is locate the Microphone and Headphone ports on your computer.
Here is a photograph of what they typically look like:
Microphone is typically Pink and Headphones are typically Green, however occasionally they will not be colored and will simply have a picture next to them.
After locating these ports on your computer you will need to purchase an appropriate cable (see the recommendation list below).
Once you have a cable please do the following to get your audio recording working.
Step 1:
Plug one end of the cable into the Headphone jack and the other end in the Microphone jack.
Step 2:
Open your BB Reloader and in the Audio Set up Process (Tools >Settings>Recording>‘Set Audio Input’) chose Microphone as your recording device in step 1 or step 2, depending on if you have Windows XP or Vista. Then ‘Start Test’ and you should receive ‘Good Settings’. Then click ‘Accept Settings’
Step 3:
Record a short test video to test the connection and the sound level.
A few cable recommendations:
Cables To Go - 6ft 3.5mm M/M Stereo Audio Cable (Black)
- AMAZON.com
Retractable 3.5 mm M/M Audio Extension Cable (Black)
- BUY.com
Belkin 6-Ft. 3.5mm Mini Stereo Dubbing Cord
- RADIOSHACK.com
Please Note: It is
not
necessary to purchase the above listed products. Many local stores carry connector cables. What you are looking for is “3.5mm or 1/8 inch Male to 1/8 inch Male cable” The length is dependent on how much cable you want and how far apart the ports on your computer are (Typically they are right next to each other). You can find this cable for under $5.00.
